ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

RYAN HAO | Sculptor and Proven Educator

Ryan began his sculpting/jewelry journey in 2008 under the mentorship of a former Marvel figure sculptor. Over nearly two decades, he honed his craft creating highly detailed pop-culture jewelry/collectibles and later became a lead instructor, training aspiring mentoring the next generation of artists.

A proven educator, he is passionate about making sculpting accessible through clear, step-by-step instruction. He has taught workshops, school programs, community art initiatives, and private mentorships, helping artists of all skill levels build confidence and refine their craft.

Outside of art, Ryan (@sculptwithryan) is a toy collector of Warhammer 40k and Transformers, a martial artist (Arnis) and a hermit who enjoys the physiological and psychological benefits of daily meditation.

SEAN ALONZO | Metal Artist and Founder of Balete Blades

Sean is an artist and the founder of Balete Blades Heirloom knives. Over the course of a decade, Sean has crafted masterpieces with rare and exotic materials for patrons and collectors all over the world. While Balete Blades (@baleteblades) is focused on master-crafting heirloom chef knives, Sean Alonzo Studio (@seanalonzostudio) is his creative bench where all the exotic and more artistic creations reside.

Sean found a passion for teaching during a 2 month project in Bhutan where he taught skilled craftsmen to elevate their work. That transformed into a love for teaching skills to people of different backgrounds and skill levels. Knives and sculptures keep Sean busy, but outside that Sean loves exploring mountains, often coming back from hikes with a collection of reclaimed fallen logs, rocks, and exotic food - things he finds interesting and beautiful while exploring.
